400m race, lactic and brick wall within the race?
I competed in a 400m race, my tactic was going out hard at 90% and kicked at 200m, I was in full at 390m i collapsed, leading up to that i didnt feel any lactic and felt fully in control. All i can say is that my legs went, can anyone tell me why this happend?
I can only assume you ran out of gas, or at least energy.
Your body can not run at top speed for 400 meters, but with proper training you can run very fast.
The idea is to come through the 200 about 1.5 to 2 seconds slower than your 200 race time.
If you do enough stress and endurance intervals and can stay relaxed you can finish at that pace.
The numbness in your arms and legs is a sign of lactic acid or lactate, which is the reason people talk about the gorilla jumping on their back with less than 100 to finish.
When you come off the curve for the home stretch do not try to increase your speed, it will only cause to slow. You just want to maintain your turn over rate and your stride length.
